When inspiration does not come to me, I go halfway to meet it.

ABout me

Check out my exhibitions page for current and upcoming shows, including featured work and new artistic directions. I love sharing my work and ideas, and hearing how people experience my art.

I am a multi-disciplinary artist, drawing from my roots in graphic design, woodworking, printmaking, photography, and traditional drawing.

I take a playful exploratory lighthearted approach to deeply personal issues

I take a playful approach to deeply personal issues in order to create work that will resonate across cultural boundaries and speak to our shared human experience.

Artistic Journey

My art career started in Culiacán, Sinaloa, Mexico and am currently living and working in the Washington DC metro area. When creating artwork, I navigate between traditional arts and emerging technology. For me, the artwork drives the medium.

Check out my curriculum vitae for details on 25 years of international exhibitions and professional practice.

Current Exhibitions

Before the Americas

Before the Americas is an art historical survey featuring 45 works by Afro-Latino, Caribbean, and African American artists. These artists confront racial and colonial constructs and have often been invisible within common art historical narratives.

The exhibit traces the significance of these artists through four themes: Genetic Memory, Migration, Invisibility, and Interconnectivity.

Works in Progress

My recent series features double-sided collages in 3D frames, viewable from both sides.

This approach expands my mixed media practice while building on past explorations of color, layers, and texture.
